Use the 40% rule
Great excerpt from a great book. Goggins rightfully points out that our brains are constantly looking for comfort so we need to practice pushing past our built-in “governer.”
At the point where you start looking at watch during a workout or start feeling the burn, you are probably only at about 40% of your capacity. Learn to “start your workout” at the point where you start feeling tired and you will really start making gains. On days where you are just not making shots, it might be even more important to stay late and put in the extra time. That’s the beauty of super-sets and drop-sets where you push to failure and then switch the lift or lighten the weight and keep going.
And read the book…or even better listen to Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins.
