Blog One - Habits = Destiny

Do you want to be a better basketball player? Are you trying to be a better basketball player?

I would assume so because you found this site. That’s great because it all starts with your thoughts.

But thoughts and trying and effort aren’t enough to make you great. You gotta believe it. Really believe it. Believe it enough to talk about it or even write it down.

Go ahead. Go tell someone you’re going to be a great basketball player. Write it down on a sticky note and put it on your mirror.

And be specific.

Tom Brady told Mr. Kraft that he was the best decision he’s ever made before he ever played a down. LeBron James got a tattoo of “The Chosen One” before he got in the NBA.

Say something or write something that means something, that is specific and measurable. Like you’re going to make varsity next year or average a double double.

Make a big statement, a promise to yourself and others. Your words will become your actions, like if you tell your coach you’re gonna make 500 shots a week over the summer.

And don’t stop there. The most important thing (and probably the hardest), is to stick to it and make it a habit.

That’s what I’m here for, what this site is for, and why you came here in the first place. We’re going to form habits and character that will make you great on and off the court.
