Blog 1.5 (aka the one for the parents)
This is where I’ll sometimes give you a book recommendation or dive deeper into the character traits I’m looking to develop in this blog.
My book recommendation is James Clear Atomic Habits. I read it long before it became a best seller and know why it resonates with so many people. I’ll be pulling inspiration and quotes from his book and newsletter regularly.
Today’s tip for your teen is “make it obvious.” Writing things down isn’t hocus-pocus “manifestio!” It’s science based fact, and it’s a reminder.
Adain Hutchinson’s mom did this with him. Listen to the outlandish things he used to write down and imagine your kid doing that as well. The thing is, he backed it up with action.
Remind your son or daughter and have an obvious reminder somewhere that watching awesome dunks on YouTube and TicTok have never translated to a higher vertical. Remind them that it’s not hard work here and there, but the habit of putting in the work daily that leads to success. And make it obvious like a sticky note on their phone or a framed quote in their room.
