What are "sets" and "reps"??

FAQ

If you are new to weight lifting this can be confusing. That being said, even understanding the basic concept, most gym-goers are too strict in their adherence to a prescribed set and rep range.

  • A repetition or “rep” = an excise performed once, like a single biceps curl. If you complete a bicep curl 10 times then you have done 10 reps.

  • A “set” = a completion of a group of repetitions in a row (without rest) followed by a rest period.

For example, you can do 3 sets of 10 reps = 10 reps of an exercise x 3 (with rest in between each set)
